Mr. Subhash Agarwal works for corporate world. His great achievements in corporate world are many and he is still happily working in this field and works for the social services.

He is a business man with difference; he believes that the world will be better living without polio. So he offered his services to Rotary voluntary programs to provide his time and effort during the National Immunization Day (NIID). Pulse polio program was held up in the city in which rotary international had helped governmental agencies and has committed over $200 million towards Endeavor’s. In Bangalore, the center with the co-operation of the corporation referral hospital has been organizing Immunization at 20 places. The rotary worldwide has joined the World Health Organization in its fight against polio by its initiatives it was able to make the western hemisphere free of polio by 1988.

Mr. Agarwal started a Government primary school for slum children on 1st February 2002, providing them with mid day meals and basic education. Then, he heard about the government school that had the entire infrastructure and two teachers but no children. “Initially the parents were reluctant to send their children to the school, as it is about two kilometers away,” Agarwal notes. “The elders had to be motivated and, after a lot of counseling, about 25children were enrolled in the school”. When mid-day meals, uniforms and books were assured free of cost, besides safe transport- first a van, then an ayah to take students to and, from the school-more children have joined the school.

Now, the number of students has been increased to 50. Finally in November, the forum adopted the school. Agarwal went on to get governors award for social service. The rest has they say, is history.
